TOWN OF HOLLY SPRINGS: Conceptual Vision Unveiled for Fire Station 3

Town of Holly Springs Fire Department issued the following announcement on Jan. 20.

A new fire station is coming to Holly Springs! To keep up with growth in the northwest region, the Town has unveiled conceptual designs for a permanent fire station that will be opening mid to late 2024 off Woods Creek Road.

“This location was chosen for a new fire station based on statistical analysis of where call volume is projected to increase,” said Holly Springs Fire Chief LeRoy Smith. “The Town is being proactive to build this fire station exactly where it will be needed to maintain our Class 1 rating from the NC Department of Insurance, the highest rating in the country, as our community grows.”

The northwest sector of Holly Springs is about to see big changes. The Carolina Springs mixed use development under construction right now is expected to have 1,700 homes, as well as commercial development. Wake County Schools is about to open Woods Creek Elementary School there. Also, global biotechnology leader Amgen is currently building a manufacturing facility in Helix Innovation Park at Friendship. Plus, the highly anticipated Calvert Ice Sports indoor training facility will also be a big draw in the area.

The latest architectural drawings of the future Fire Station 3 feature a single story, 3 bay building, with the ability to house 8 firefighters. It will include modern decontamination technology that pressurizes the apparatus bay to keep contaminants out of living quarters. The fire station will also feature a small touch down area for Holly Springs Police so they will be able to have a footprint in that quadrant of Town.

“One thing that people may not know is that Town staff has named the future road leading to the fire station “Cinder Station Road,” in honor of the most beloved fire dog in the state,” said Chief Smith. “Cinder is looking forward to meeting new residents and business owners and teaching them about fire safety when we open the new station.”

While the permanent facility is being constructed, crews are planning to operate out of a temporary fire station located on Holly Springs New Hill Road near the Fujifilm Diosynth Biotechnologies construction site.

Groundbreaking on the new fire station is set for late summer of this year. Stay up to date on all things Fire Station 3 by visiting our website.
