Town of Holly Springs Parks and Recreation Department issued the following announcement on Dec. 28.

In honor of the life and legacy of Martin Luther King, Jr., we come together as a community through acts of service. Join us on Monday, Jan. 16 from 9-11 a.m. at Bass Lake Park for mulching the trail and creating Valentine's Day cards for seniors. Preregistration is required for mulching. In remembrance of Martin Luther King, Jr., we come together as a community through acts of service. Join us for the second annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service on Monday, January 16 from 9-11 a.m. at Bass Lake Park.

MULCHING THE TRAIL

In coordination with North Carolina's Year of the Trail celebration, volunteers will be mulching and cleaning the trail at Bass Lake Park. This project is intended for volunteers ages 16+. Volunteers ages 10-15 are able to assist with a parent/guardian in attendance. Dress for the outdoor weather and in clothes suitable for getting dirty. VALENTINE'S DAY CARDS

As a second service project, children and families can create Valentine's Day cards for seniors in the conference room at Bass Lake Park. The cards will be distributed with the assistance of Holly Springs Police Department. Card making is walk-in only, so no registration or waiver are needed.
